Unit 9

UNIT 9

Honey and Mumford Learning theory

Different learning types

Activist- The learner who is hands on and works well by being practical. This learner will involve themselves fully and act first then consider the consequences and or learn after.

Theorist- Prefers to learn the theory’s behind the actions with models and concepts to help them engage. They will Thinks problems through step by step before carrying out the actions.

Pragmatist- The learner who needs to relate the theories to the real world and make links to the real world. This learner likes to try out ideas and theories to see if they work in practice. They also like to act quickly and confidently on ideas that attract them.

Reflector- The learner who prefers to observe and listen. These learners will be engaged while sitting on the side-lines and view things from a far and from different perspectives.  These people like to collect data and then think thoroughly before coming to a conclusion.

We could input these into Moodle by creating a quiz for learners to find out which learning style they are and then they can focus on learning their work in their preferred way with and we can also give them feedback on the quiz that include ways that they may learn best based on their results. This would be a useful addition to Moodle as students can learn the way they learn best and what characteristics they may have.

1.3 Provide guidance on what and how any copyright or other constraints may apply to the use of own and other’s images and designs.

Copyright is very important to your own graphic design and imagery.

Copyright refers to the rights to your own image or art work. When you designed your own art work or took your own photos, you have your own original rights to these photos and this art work. Nobody else can use them until you give permission to users to use it so called free copyrights.  If somebody uses photos, which are not theirs and they do not have permission to use them, then they may have to pay fine or face some other restrictions.  I would say that most importantly, author of original art work or images will contact you first asking politely for you to remove photos so that is why even if you used images which are not yours and you are not allowed to do this, it is important to communicate with the author and remove them.

I am planning a career as an instructional designer and have to be honest and state that I cannot draw very well.  However, I already work as digital designer for the College and I use free images with free copy rights. I use mainly Pixabay and Elearning brothers. Pixabay is very good because you have free copyrights for the images. When I do have spare time, I take photos of my own images. Our college has got paid account with Elearning brothers and we use these images. I also have collection of images I paid for myself and I use them as I have full resell rights and I purchased them privately. In the past I used a lot of images for my self-employed business and I have full resell rights for them. So if you want you can purchase images privately and have full resell rights for them and use them for non-commercial and commercial use.

We use in the College mainly images for non-commercial use for educational purposes only.  We create quizzes and E-Learning packages for various topics like Health and Safety, Health and Safety and Construction, Gypsy & Traveller Awareness Month, Animals Projects, Art Project. We create interactive and animated games, multiple choice questions, roll overs, drag and drop activities and we use other interactive templates. Learners at College watch slides and take part in the interactive quizzes.

I always make sure that the images, which I use are free copyrights. I mainly use Pixabay, Elearning brothers and I have collections of images I paid for with full resell rights. I would not recommend to use any other images you do not have permission to use because you can get cautions, fines or other consequences. Most importantly if you did use images which you do not have permission to use, author of them will contact you first or should contact you first to remove them.

I also noticed that some people use google relabel to use images. It is fine to use them however some of these images you may credit the author in your project and attach a profile stating that you attribute the author in your project work.
